Vellafilm
Semi-permeable adherent silicone film dressing
Product Description
Silicone film dressing
Vellafilm is a polyurethane film dressing with Silfix soft silicone contact layer, designed to protect the wound whilst minimising the pain and trauma associated with dressing change. The soft silicone adheres to surrounding dry surrounding skin but not to a moist wound.
The dressing is transparent, allowing observation of the wound site or primary dressing which minimises dressing change frequency. Vellafilm has a very high moisture vapour transfer rate.

FAQ
- 1. Can Silflex be taken off, cleaned and put back on?
- No due to the risk of infection.
- 2. Do you have to wet your gloves when handing Silflex?
- As silicone is hydrophobic it is easier to handle if your gloves are wet, preventing Silflex from sticking to your gloves.
- 3. How long can Silflex be left on for without moving it?
- 14 days is the maximum wear time for Silflex, however it is recommended that a 180 degree rotation is undertaken to prevent over granulation.
- 4. Why does Silflex have such large holes?
- Silflex has unique larger holes allowing passage of exudate into the secondary dressing, so it doesn't sit against the skin causing maceration.
